London-listed Vedanta Resources has reported a net profit of $337 million for the first half of the current financial year, as against $188.2 mn for the same period last year. Revenues registered a 54 per cent jump, at $4.6 bn for the first six months of 2010-11. Foreign exchange gains and other income helped drug maker Ranbaxy Laboratories to post a 168 per cent rise in third-quarter net profit at Rs312.8 crore, compared to Rs116.6 crore a year earlier. Hindalco Industries, an Aditya Birla Group company, today said its second-quarter net profit rose 26 per cent to Rs 433.81 crore from Rs 344.05 crore in the year-ago period. Indian Overseas Bank (IOB) has reported a 17.10 per cent increase in net profit in the quarter ended September 30 to Rs 206.15 crore as against Rs 176.04 crore a year ago. Total income rose 5.21 per cent to Rs 3,074.73 crore from Rs 2,922.34 crore last year. Non-interest income stood at Rs 274.54 crore as against Rs 372.39 crore last year. read more »
